Hello!
I joined this community because I'm relatively new to Death Note and have a few fic recs - separately, indiscriminately, or all thrown together in one happy mix if at all possible ;) I'm not much of a Light/L fan because of that one rather unforgivable thing Light pulled on L to ruin that pairing for me, so I'm mostly focused on the Wammy gang.
That out of the way:
- L/Mello fics. Mello always struck me as the one who looked up most to L, it would be interesting to see a kind of teacher/pupil or brotherly scenario. Maybe L turns out alive in the middle of Mello taking his revenge?
- Someone gets under Near's skin, any pairing. He's always been the most elusive of all to me, I'd like to see him letting down his emotional guard and see what's behind it.
- Fics at Wammy House, any pairing. Mostly looking for a good atmosphere setting here to feed my conception of the place!
- Someone picks up Mello's pieces after the explosion.
I realise some of these sound more like prompts than recs, but I hope something similar to these has already been written.

Hey. I was hoping someone here could help Me find a fic, I have just been DYING to re-read. Okay. So. Unfortunately, it is a little vague, but, I think I have enough to garner a reaction, I hope. In this fic, I think some might have descibed the characterizations of L and Light, as, a touch OOC, (not enough to make Me care though) it was a long fic, over 30 thousand words, if not completed, brought to enough of resolution, that, it felt like a ending, and, in it, L took Light to some big mansion, in the country. Most likely Whammy House. And, in the last scene, had them walking through a snowy field together. Feel like there might have been a sequel, but, then, I keep thinking this was a m-preg, and, seeing those are so easy to find, and, I haven't found this one..... yeah. Anyway. If anyone, anyone at all, could help out, I would be incredibly grateful, it goes without saying. Well, I hope one of you lovely people can help, fingers crossed. LonePanther.

I'm relatively new to the Death Note fandom, only about a year or so, and in comparison to my other (ex)fandoms it seems relatively small, or I am yet to hit the mother-load of fiction hiding somewhere.
In my search for fiction, I have been entirely unable to find WxL. At first, when I was still reading DC on a regular basis, the concept to me was gross. Bruce and Alfred should never ever ever be like that, imo. But something about Watari is very different to me. I can see that bit of sinister-ness that all ff hint at, but I also see that his life had no other meaning than L. He didn't seem to care so much about the recruits, so the passion there seemed kind of clear and obsessive to me. There is certainly not a lot of W love in the fanfiction I've read, really, quite the opposite.
So here's what I'm looking for: I'm looking for -any- WxL fic, that is not crack-fic, or sex pollen. It doesn't have to be consensual, requited, or even sexual, but it has to show a clear picture of their relationship. Bonus points if Watari is the one who starts things, or Watari POV.
I don't want to, but if I have to I will write one, darn it.

There are a lot of awesome Death Note fics hidden out there, I'm sure. Totally amazing fics that have so little actual recognition that most fans pass them right by. I'm looking for said fics.
Can you guys rec me your absolute favorite Death Note fics, particularly ones not mentioned everywhere under the sun? Though I realize that what appears popular to some might not seem to be popular to others. I never so much of heard of A Tithe To Hell by Ningenfucker until about half a year ago, though that fic is apparently majorly popular in the DN fandom. See what I mean?
Um. I've gone through a lot of the better fics on FFN, but I'm bound to have missed some, so feel free to rec from there, too.
Requirements/Acceptables:
- 8,000 words and up. The longer the better, though.
- Well written. If the plot is incredible I can settle for mediocre quality, though. =p
- Yaoi (Light/L preferred, but I won't turn down a good L/CMC, Light/CMC, Near/Mello, or Mello/Matt fic.) *CMC = Canon Male Character
- Gen (Gen must be L or Light centric. Bonus if the fic is both. L/Light Friendship is another major bonus).
- Crossovers (Must be Yaoi or L\\Light-centirc Gen, like in Martydom and Paradox which is fab Harry Potter/Death Note fan fic featuring L/Harry).
- AU is totally fine.
-Any rating or genre is fine.

Hi guys!
I used to write here a lot, and I've been wondering about getting back into it, but in the mean time I have a question for you all. A long time ago, in this community, an artist posted a series of fanarts. The subjects were generally L and Light.
There were a couple of really memorable ones; one was a teaspoon of cream or sugar, and L and Light grasping at each other. L's mouth was open and Light was sort of holding it away from him. Another they were really close together again, with blue ink smeared everywhere, I think with a quill tipped pen and the handcuff chains featured. One of them pantsless on a couch, another curled up in an office chair.
Can anyone else remember these? Got a link, or a name I can help track down? I'm looking for the one with the spoon in particular!

Hey guys, I was wondering has anybody here has read that epic L and Light fanfic Genious is a Curse???

I have been reading it since it started coming out and I always felt that it should have been slash, especially towards the end. I mean, I absolutely loved how it didn't start off slashy at all, but at some point, it was begging for some L/Light romance, in my opinion! Probably, exactly because the tension had build up enough for it to be believable.
However, the last two chapters were really grim and it makes very sad that after such a long read the ending seems to be going towards a tragic and very anti-climactic resolution.
Has anyone else read it? What are your thoughts on this???

Summary: Light decides he wants an additional notebook in the human world in order to create more elaborate schemes, and Ryuk tells him that Light can get one, for a price. Light never thought the price meant he'd be dealing with an old problem yet again.
Pairing(s): LightxL, also with an implied LightxMisa and maybe a hint of LxMisa
Additional Notes: All canon events previous to the start of this fic have happened as normal. This fic is set in the second half of the series, but its timeline is a little bit fuzzy because canon events have little effect on it. The shinigami rules are expanded from those in canon and perhaps even contradicted a little (or, at the very least, they are interpreted in unusual ways).

First, I want to thank you for keeping the crack coming.
Second, I want to recommend the movie "Parade" starring Tatsuya Fujiwara (Light) playing a character who is not a long-suffering good guy. Not an easy movie to find, but worth the effort.
And third...I'm looking for an old fic. I'm on two comm's for fic, but the one I'm looking for is very explicit so I figure it's here. A one-shot, Light/L, where L meets a blindingly gruesome end. You see, I have this kinky friend who would enjoy hell out of the story.
It was likely posted before August '08, since that's when I moved here (to Korea) and did a lot less fic reading.
Can anyone help me?
